![]() If you choose this route you will study the following two 15 credit modules:ĮU Law is one of the seven foundations of legal knowledge studied during the academic stage of legal training. You do not of course need to choose this pathway to go on to qualify as a solicitor, but the subject matter can help in demystifying the procedural aspects of the law. You will find this route of interest if you wish to be introduced to the solicitor’s profession and its qualifying examinations. You will also examine the inter-relationship between tort law and contract, criminal and administrative law. Through this module, you will acquire knowledge and understanding of the substantive law of tort and the wider policy issues surrounding the development of tort law. It also aims to give you knowledge and appreciation of the family and commercial contexts. The course covers the core doctrines within this area, focusing strongly on the development of analytical skills within the context of real property. It also provides you with a basis for the study of more specialised areas which require knowledge and understanding of the workings of Equity. The module covers the core doctrines within this area, focusing strongly on the development of analytical skills within the context of trusts. It also aims to teach an appreciation of the need, and proposals, for reform in criminal law. This module introduces you to general concepts in relation to offences against persons and property, general defences, and certain specific offences. The module also aims to help you develop sensitivity to the often competing values, such as certainty, flexibility and justice. This module covers the core doctrines within Contract Law, focusing strongly on the development of analytical skills within a commercial context. This module will introduce you to the theories which underpin Public Law, their application in the field of human rights, and the main procedure by which Public Law is litigated. You will learn about the political institutions of the EU, and the Court of Justice, its jurisdiction and mode of interpretation. ![]() Through this module you will develop a general understanding of EU Law.
